Born on the Gold Coast, Reece Walsh first lit up the local rugby league scene playing for the Nerang Roosters, and attended Keebra Park State High School where the Broncos identified and signed him as a teenager.
His natural flair was evident early, earning selection in both the Queensland and Australian Schoolboys sides.
After a two-year stint with the New Zealand Warriors — where he made his NRL debut and quickly built a reputation as one of the game’s most exciting young fullbacks — Walsh returned home to Brisbane in 2023.
He exploded out of the blocks, delivering early-season form that earned him a Queensland Maroons debut which helped secure a dominant State of Origin series victory.
After an injury-disrupted 2024 Walsh elevated his game to a new level in 2025, scoring 14 tries, producing 26 try assists, breaking the line 10 times and averaging nearly 150 run metres per match.
Walsh was instrumental in Brisbane’s charge through the finals, and he saved his best for last.
In the 2025 Grand Final, he delivered a mesmerising performance — scoring a crucial try, setting up three more, breaking 14 tackles and racking up 176 run metres — to be named Clive Churchill Medallist.
He capped off his outstanding year by representing the Australian Kangaroos in their Ashes series victory over England.
