Kotoni Staggs was born in Wellington, NSW, and was representing his junior club, the Wellington Cowboys, when he first caught the attention of Brisbane Broncos talent scouts.
He joined the Club through the academy pathways system and worked his way through Queensland Cup before making an immediate impact in the NRL — scoring a try on debut as a 19-year-old in 2018.
After a strong 2019 campaign, his rise was halted by a ruptured ACL in 2020, an injury that sidelined him for much of the 2021 season.
Staggs returned to form in 2022, delivering a string of standout performances that earned him his State of Origin debut for the New South Wales Blues.
From there, he cemented himself as one of the NRL’s most dangerous centres.
He was named the Broncos’ Best Back in both 2024 and 2025, recognised for his explosive carries, tackle-breaking ability and outstanding consistency.
Staggs played a major role in Brisbane’s 2025 premiership triumph, finishing the season with 12 tries, six try assists, 26 line breaks and an average of almost 140 run metres per game.
His exceptional year was capped off with selection at centre in the Dally M Team of the Year, followed by representing the Australian Kangaroos in their Ashes series victory over England.
